Ive had my Whites Classic 2 for about 6 years now. I've had great luck with it but Ive had trouble with it lately. Whenever, I hunt an older site I get really lite blips. I know most of it has to be iron because I have the detector to all coins mode. However, what puzzles me is when I test the detector to see if its functioning properly (I usually run it over aluminum or a coin) it doesn't sound off at all. This might be a battery problem but I just replaced the battery pack with some cheap grocery AA batteries. Should I invest in new batteries, possibly rechargeables, or should I inspect the detector more to see if there is a deeper problem with it? Needless to say the whole situation has been very discouraging.
