what's your digger of choice?

i dig with an old hickory handled butcher knife. i keep it kinda dull because if it's to sharp i cut myself. duh. it cuts a good plug, easy to handle and cheap. i don't have a lot of patience so if the signal is real deep i fill the hole and go for another. i mean, beyond a foot. if i want to get serious, my friend has this HUGE back hoe trencher! what does every one use?

I use a Hercules digger by Predator tools when I am in an area that I can. I also have a very nice hand digger simalar to the Lesche. Good diggers make our hunts easier.

After several breakdowns of the generic garden shovel, I purchased the Gator digger from Kelly Co. and I have been a happy digger ever since. I have had it about a year and only sharpened it once.

two half foot gaden shovel when i out in the feild, hardware flower trowel they look like a gater but bend pretty easly.

I have used a Gator digger from Kelly Co. and bent it and i am not hard with tools. I now use a LESCHE for over 4 years and never bent it.

still like my old knife guys. i am great at breaking tools. i broke two of my wife's garden trowels before i hit on that old butcher knife 15 years ago. still diggin'. heck, i even broke my breaker bar! i want that drag line tho, joe.

I use a 99 cent plastic spade from K-Mart.

Why?

Simple, it's heavy duty plastic and doesn't break, even in rocks and rock hard sand. I can easily uproot grass with little or no work involved AND BEST OF ALL there is no metal and it cannot be picked up on my metal detector or pinpointer, so it doesn't interfer with digging.
