How can you clean pennies (wheaties)?

Actually you shouldnt clean them unless they're really ugly..but thats just my opinion :)
You can use the old vinegar and salt trick..or a pencil eraser..but that may leave some small scratches. cant think of anything else at the moment.

You obviously plan on keeping them at face value. I use heated hydrogen peroxide. Small heat resistant glass.Put some hydro'. per'. in the glass. Elevate the glass in some manner and put a small candle under the glass, wait until the liquid starts to boil and drop the penny(s) in. They will bubble like crazy. When the bubbling stops take them out and check them. You can repeat with new liquid again as necessary. Some folks just use the microwave to heat the liquid and drop the pennies in. Not in the micro of course. I just use enough liquid to cover the pennies. The exact cleaning method is posted here somewhere. Maybe another member can find it for you. The flame doesn't have to touch the glass.
