Fixing metal detectors? help?

Does anyone know if there is anyone out there who fixes metal detectors? Because like 2 months ago I slipped on a muddy river bank and threw my detector in the river and it sunk, and short circuited its self. It was a cheapo one from radioshack. But if it could be fixed fairly cheap i'd do it.

You sort of answered your own question. I would write it off and get something used of better quality. If you are going to be out detecting, having a cheap detector is a waste of time IMO.

If you have a cheap sports car, it's still fun to drive on a scenic road, but with a cheap detector, you will be missing finds despite putting in the same effort as with a better one. Decent beginner detectors just aren't that expensive.

Well I already bought a new one, I wanted one to have as a back up in case anything happens to my BH - QS. One day I will get either a White's DFX or a White's XLT

Radioshack 3 Mode Descriminator thats all it says. It's roughly 10 years old.

Check with Keith Wills at brokendetector.com I know he works on lots of detectors.
