What is your "White Whale?"

I have a list of things that I have yet to find.....my "white whales." I remember my first lists had on them pennies (lol), wheaties, gold rings, silver rings, class rings, IH's, silver coins, 3 cent piece, gold coins, etc. My white whales are: gold necklace, silver necklace, expensive watch, silver thimble, seated dime, and a war nickel. What find would make you do the "happy dance?"

Mine would have to be $20 gold piece (I ain't picky), war nickel, or a Rolex.

Any BARBER coin, any SEATED coin, any Gold coin. A GOOD gold ring with diamonds.

1. Stack of gold bars

2. Virgin placer gold deposit.

I've already found lots of gold and silver coins, and other things.

Now you're talking! A rolex. I wonder if they are worth anything after being in the water for a while....

Good question, never thought about it that way. Only thing I was worried about if it was still running when I found it.

Are you kidding? A Rolex will last forever under water. They are made of either gold or stainless steel. All the modern ones are waterproof. I have seen several come out of the ocean (got a nice one myself 11 years ago). They look as good as they did going in.

C'mon guys,
A true detectorist would give the rolex back. All Rolex's have an I.D. number on the back. The owner will be registered. I don't know... tough decision. I would wear it a LITTLE while first. TTC

Drat! And double drat. The code....argggggg, the md'ers code.....If I had a way to return it, I would. Anyone can do the right thing when its easy, or doesn't cost you something. True character is demonstrated when you do the right thing and it costs you something.

Re: What is your "White Whale?"

I'd like to find another Rolex. . . the first one I found was in the rough on a golf course and I was able to track down the owner because of the REALLY "mushy" inscription :tard: on the back :D

Re: What is your "White Whale?"

A Rolex would be nice. So would a gold coin. But what I really want is to find something from the 1715 fleet. Been there a few times but no luck. Just my White Whale.
