I read an article in the local paper today about a lady who hired a person to help her organize things in her deceased mother's household. The lady who evidently has been doing this work (at $50/hr.) for years passed along some helpful hints especially to us T-Her's about where old folks tend to hide valuables:

Clothing & Shoes :
The breast pockets of men's suit coats, under sole inserts, in wrapped socks or underwear and bra cups.
Drapery hems
A favorite hiding place for small jewelry or coins.
Canister sets
Rare coins or jewelry in the flour or sugar canister and sometimes cookie tins.
Books
Paper money between the pages of a book.
Ice cube trays
A favorite place for small jewelry or gemstones.
Toilet Tank
Another place for jewelry.
Duct tape
Money or jewelry wrapped tightly in a wadded ball.
Picture frames
Between the picture and the mat or backing material.
Attic rafters
Favorite place for coins, jewelry and antiques.

Man, I wish I'd known this when my dear old grand dad passed ten years ago! That was 5 years before I'd caught the "bug" though.... :(

Another place is in a freezer. My aunt use to wrap up all her paper money in Alum. foil and put it in the freezer. Most people thought it was meat in the foil. I guess you could call that money ( Cold Cash) lol
Hope it helps someone. Shane

On that tv show Lucky, thats what he would do after winning big at the casino. He'd put his money in the freezer.

Another place is if a cast iron tub has an enclosure built around it. Old gentleman had his filled up with a large cache of cameras documents and cash. One of the panels could be pulled off with a hook. The only giveaway was the scratches where he inserted the hook.
