This may be a little like trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon, but it has worked for me up to now. I journal my finds by drawing pictures of the stuff and recording pertinent information on where it was found. I really enjoy this and find that I can remember more if I study these pieces while I am drawing. I just thought I would show you all.

Very nice use of cross-hatching in your drawings. You must have some background in art or have been drawing for quite some time. I love the idea of an artistic journal for your finds. Great work!

Looks awesome. I love artwork. I can't draw to save my life.

I'm in the same boat.My sister could draw portraits and everything else. She got a scholarship to the Chicago Art Institute when she was a senior in high school. She graduated from HS and got married 10 days later and never drew another pic of anything. What a waste.

I am with everyone else when I say "Sweet drawings dude".

Now on topic with my own records. When I find a good coin or token then I put it in a 2"X2" flip and record either the exact address, closest cross streets, or if I am out of town I often just write the city name on it. I also put the date on the flip. This sometimes helps to jog the memory as to where I was when I found it. I need to keep better records though. I like your journal idea. I am starting to get a couple of my kids involved and it might be a cool project to have them journal their finds.

Thanks for the post.

If I was to try and draw what I found, I would have to send in my pictures to the "What is it part of this forum" just to try to figure out what I drew. Man you have great talent. The pictures are super.

Excellent!

Sadly, my own artistic ability peaked in the 4th grade, when I drew what was eventually determined to be either a Holstein heifer or a P-38.

Since I was also lousy in math, I even struck out on the paint-by-number approach. ::)

Once again, great work, BB!

That is sooo cool, Tom! I'm with the others though, can't draw worth anything! :P

When I first started hunting, I thought about how would I keep up with what I find. I had a calender on my desk and decided to write down the info on the hunts in the appropriate date square....where I hunted and what I found. I still do that, but only if I've found something worth mentioning. :)

You're so talented! 8)

Nana :)

I am not a rep for the company but I can tell you that I LOVE the iDetect software! It is a great little package to keep your journal and you can add pictures etc. It will keep running totals of things. This software is sweet!

For those of us not talented enough to do it like BB does....

Excellent! You have a great talent!

I don't keep a journal of the things I find, with the exception of Pipsico, but we are writing a book!

I don't draw much anymore...so my Pipsico Journal is all photos!!

But that is a great idea and wonderful work on your part!!!

And ME2....you know STICK MEN are the craze now, don't you? You will go far!! Here's one for you:
