    was just curious, the places like dalonega can you detect where they pan for gold at those sites where you pay to pan

    I agree with the gold clubs. Avoid any commercial stuff for the tourists. brass filings is likely what you will find.

    My boys and I panned near the Barlow cut for two years about 15 years ago. Metal detectors will find you pop tops and relics. But we used the Fisher Gold Bug to locate buckshot in small streams and if there is any gold in those steams it will be with the buck shot. Hint it is white since it is corroded. Leave the mercury alone. Also if you use a metal detector should have a small coil like a 3" garrett nugget coil because even buck shot is small. Actually it is bird shot, I believe buck shot is much bigger. Anyway, the corroded lead was BB size or smaller.
