Diggin in Georgia clay

Hey everyone. I made it to Georgia. My son found me a 33 acre piece of land in Druid hills to MD in. I can only use a little garden shovel I have to stay in the woods and the area under the pines that are covered in pine needles. Thats not a problem because it still leaves a lot of area to cover,
( But how in the world do you get more than four or five inches deep in this clay when the heat index is at 103.}
And the lady at the store said that this is just pre summer.
Well its going to be hotter today so I'm going to Savanah and do some looking at the beach today and tomarrow
