    Toccoa River

I went tubing on the Toccoa River near Blue Ridge, Ga yesterday and saw shiny specks ever so often on the sandy bottom that looked like gold. Me and my buddy thought about giving panning a try. Could this have been gold or are we just seeing fools gold?

probably mica, you usually don't see gold laying on top.plus mica is silver looking, and shines a lot, gold is gold-and heavier than lead.

I agree with Strickman...it's Mica. Sometimes when the sun hits mica a certain way and especially in the river water it has a
yellowish tone. I grew up in North East GA and swam in the Chattahoochee River and found Mica all the time. I even had some pieces the size of a Golf ball.

But I do wish GOLD was that easy to spot !!!!!
