I grew up in a small town in Northern Arizona and worked for a number of years on a railroad there.

The railroad used to be a Santa Fe line to the Grand Canyon. Along the 64 mile route there were a ton of company funded bunk houses. Most of what remains are foundations and a few walls. The line hauled sheep, cattle, lumber, and copper ore.

Most of it is on private land, but it's open range cattle land, and probably wouldn't be too difficult to get permission to hunt (detect/find/dig, etc). The most I've ever done is ride the rails and take photographs. You can see a handful of my pictures on ghosttowns.com under the Coconino County town of "Apex".

Good luck y'all!
