Due to the drought here in Indiana, the ruins of a town have appeared outside of Huntington, Indiana. The town was buried under water when the reservoir was put in, but now, the water is so low that the old streets and crumbled buildings are showing up. I'm hoping to have time this weekend to go MDing at this site. Who knows what might still be buried there. The town was purposefully flooded in the late 50's...way earlier than the MD hobby. :)

They did a little spot on WANE TV last night about it. It's the first I had heard there was a town there. Huntington is SW of Fort Wayne on 24 (I think). But I think you can get to the reservoir from I-69. Who knows, might see you there.

I have hunted in the area and done really well.
Both Dora and New Holland were around in the 1870s. Both have been underwater for a while. Did you have any luck at either of these sites?

I've never been there. Never actually heard of it until the little spot on the news last night. I'm hoping to make time to check it out this weekend.

Unfortunately, Monument City didn't exist before 1876. The soldiers memorial is now the island: constructed in the 1860s. Follow the memorial cemetery (pin) south to original location of the town. Both of the churches north and south of the lake have produced very old coins.

My father was born in North Jordan, Indiana in 1917. From what I understand it doesn't exist anymore. I don't know where it was, but it might be worth checking out...

I once found a silver ring under a dry fishing pier, thanks to a drought.
