How to locate a ghost town.

I've heard go to bureau of land management was wondering if they have another name since i can't find one in my county. I have a list of towns from the treasure Atlas but what old maps I've found in library doesn't show any of them is it possible miners camps could have been unofficial towns how do u locate them?

Go to Amazon.Com and search for booklets on ghost towns of the West, or Southwest, or of a particular state, like Arizona, etc. Many listings will comes up with booklets that have stories and facts about ghost towns in the areas you list, with directions on how to get to them.
