If you would just use your head and think for a minute, you'd see that it doesn't work that way. Just read the threads.

We have seen over and over what happens here when politics is allowed on the forums........It doesnt matter what my political beliefs are and even if I agree with what you post, the owners of TN forum have clearly stated they want no politics on the forum period....It is TreasureNet rules...........

You want to discuss issues that is fine, but keep all politics out of it, if members can't keep the politics out of it, thread will be locked down, if someone insists on constantly making threads political they can be muted or banned.....
I didn't say I wanted to. And yes, the owners can indeed have any kind of site they want here, that's a fact. But not long ago you didn't feel that way. Now you're itching to delete the first one who puts a toe across the line. What happened?

    KK,

I have always felt politics should be kept off the TN forum boards, it causes way too many problems and many times in the past was an embarressment to TN..... I have posted a few times on political threads when it was allowed, but I have always felt it was wrong to have it here, The other moderators, especially Jeff can vouch for that....

Our rules are what makes TN enjoyable for the majority of the members. I have talked to moderators from other Treasure sites who told me they were glad to see politics were banned from TN, and they also did not allow politics on their boards either.......

    Spelling?

I wasn't saying you were involved with the politics board. But you were an outspoken critic of the new Treasurenet. Now you're not.

Personally, I wouldn't let other sites determine how I ran mine. Maybe that's just me.

That makes sense, Mods on other sites hated to see all of the detectorists that wanted to discuss other topics winding up on Tnet. It did help level the field for them. And we always knew your twisted thinking that it was an embarrassment to you.

In the old days political speech was acceptable in this country, and about the time Pres W. Wilson started throwing political prisoners in jail it was deemed unacceptable. And every since Americans have been afraid of free speech.

Free speech is still acceptible, but the OWNERS of this forum do not want political posts on here, why is that so hard for some to understand, they bought TN, spent good money for it and have every right to set the rules as they wish.. You want to discuss politics your free to do so, just can't do it here...

You talk about freedom, yet your saying when someone buys a busines that they don't have the freedom and right to set the rules that business opperates under?

Before Marc banned politics the last and final time, Marc was getting lots of mail from members asking him to do something about all the politics on TN, I myself was getting mail from members asking me to talk to Marc about the politics on TN, I had members telling me they did not even want to visit TN because of it.. I have also gotten mail from members supporting our rule on no politics since the format and ownership was changed..

No one is saying you can't talk about politics, you just can't do it here.... Just like you and I can set the rules in our homes on what is allowed so can the owners of TN.... In my home there is no smoking allowed, and that includes my front and back porch. If I have guests and they want to smoke they go outside in the yard, it is still a free county, but in my home I set the rules, just like in your home you set the rules and just like the owners set the rules here...

I can care less if you think my thinking is twisted, but just for the record, I am a conservative and have been my whole life, I am Viet Nam Vet and if SAM missles shot at B52s count as being under fire then I have been under fire as well. I am a very strong supporter of this country, but I also think TreasureNet is a better forum with out politics to divide members and cause problems just like it has every time it was allowed here in the past....

No problem with Buying the site and making it how they want it. It is theirs after all. But you are the one claiming to have the majority opinion, and you have tried to exert your opinion for years. And I have watched your soft politicking for a lonnng time.

You have been lobbying against the section personally as long as I can remember.
YOU had members personally messaging you? Even though you had no weight at the time?

Thanks for your service, but there are many ex vets with very twisted ideals,, John Kerry comes to mind. I have seen very little to make me think you are conservative.

I am glad that you finally got the power you have been seeking for so long though.

I have already said I was against politics on TN in the past. Yes I had members IMing me, why, I dont know, maybe it was because I was against the politics, maybe it was because I ran the charter membership drives for 3 years in a row, I don't know.....

I was never seeking power, but I have always been a major supporter of TN since I first came here both verbally and financially and I have never once in all that time asked if I could be a mod, I was approched by admins asking me if I was interested............. I did not care for the format change when it first was released and said so, but since them the owners have bent over backwards tring to make changes to the format to make the members happy...

Last, I never said I had the majority opinion, I said Marc had many members contacting him and I had members IMing me about the politics as well...

Funny, I have had many many members that messaged me that they could not understand why the politics section brought such venom against it by you and others. But, like you in the past, I had no power to do anything about it. And I would not send multiple emails to Marc or anyone else to make it seem like we were freaked out. I guess, in the end, that was our problem, squeaky wheel and all that.

What is past is past. But please. You are not an innocent or even a neutral observer. All you have to say is the policy is no politics.

We do not need to hear a political view from a new mod that Tnet was "embarrassed" by something just because that is your viewpoint.

What I can't understand (and I really have tried) is why you folks are having a discussion about politics and political posts as well as a bit of not so friendly banter in the "Global Warming" section of the forum. Maybe "personal messages" would be a better way to discuss your differences, ask questions and give direction.

What I'm really surprised about is that a MOD has been baited to participate in the discussion.

    Now to clarify a bit:

Talking about the personality known as Albert Gore can be done completely divorced from "polyticks" because he is no longer in office. Rather, he is a private citizen who is doing his dead level best to become the world's first TRILLION-AIRE via his teachings about the environment. Some scientists believe, other disagree. The discussion of those differences in this forum is NOT political.

Have the words "liberal" and "conservatives" been used here? Yes, but not for the purposes of a political discussion.

There WERE folks here who tried to make this forum political. They are no longer on Tnet --- at least not under the names that were banned.

Regardless of how it is perceived, we do not come to this section to discuss politics.

I know my sig contains a quote from Thomas Jefferson. It is neither exhorting others to make a political choice or telling anyone that their beliefs are wrong. If they get that idea, then perhaps they are unsure about their beliefs and the quote makes them feel guilty.

My avatar is an observation and not a political statement.
Know your homophones (as opposed to homophobes like me)! Know which one to use ... and their meaning:

"Know" is related to knowledge, while "No" is a negative response.

"There" is a location, while "Their" shows possession and "They're" is the contraction of "They are".

"Which" specifies an item from a set but a "Witch" casts spells and wears a pointy black hat.

"Patients" (people receiving medical care) must show "patience" (tolerate delay).

I have said it many times on the threads already but I will say it once again..............POLICY IS NO POLITICS.

Thread is closed, but your welcome to start a new one on Global Warming..........

I am posting this here because there have been a few individuals trying to get the political and religious sections going again and that will not happen. Please keep political type discussions out of this section, that's not why it's here.
