Hello,

I'm new to this forum and prospecting in general. Although, I've been interested gold prospecting for years. I never really thought you could do in the east, I've since learned that you can. I live in the Philadelphia region and I'm very excited to start exploring down in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. I'll be traveling to West Virginia in May. I was hoping to stop at a couple of spots along the way and pickup a few buckets to pan later. Does anyone know if you need a permit to pan along the Potomac river, since it's surrounded by parks? if so, where do I get one. Also, any advice or tips for panning in this region and York/Lancaster counties in PA would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
