Went down to my claim (lots of pictures)

So last week I went down to my claim. Last year there was a forest fire that went through it and a lot of trees fell over the trail. All the underbrush burnt up so I was worried about the condition of the trail. Luckily it didnt wash away too bad and the forest service sent a crew in and cleared the trees (not for us miners, but for the horseback riders). The fire started about 5 miles below my claim. I camp up creek about 2 miles from my claim on a buddies claim. They said they went and pulled there equipment out before the fire got too far up the canyon. They overheard the firefighters talking about purposefully planning on burning an old 100+ year old mining cabin on my claim. It was a historical land mark. My buddies also found out that they started a back burn fire about 2 miles above his claim (where we camp) and burnt it down all the way to my claim and burnt the cabin down. They started the back burn when the fire was still 3 miles below my claim, a total of 5 miles up creek from the main fire. Thats not the first time they burnt historical cabins down in my area either. Where i camp there used to be a half a dozen mining cabins that they burnt down a few years back.

Anyway, i took a ton of pictures. I will post them when they are all uploaded on photobucket. I was wondering what you guys think of the area from what you can tell from the pictures.

Old hydraulic workings up on the claim I work on. You can tell how old they are from the size of the trees that have grown in.

Some more pictures, one of them is the part of a buddies dredge pontoon. His dredge was sitting in the creek during the fire and had a tree fall on it. My 4" was also left in the creek and had a tree fall 3' from it.

And this is where the old cabin sat. There was a bunch of camping gear stored in it that all went up in flames.

Sorry for the unfocused pictures, my camera sucks and theres too many pictures to weed them all out, or im too lazy .

And, finally, my 4" Gold King Dredge that a bear messed with. They seem to like gas cans and oil up there .

Sorry to here about your cabin, especially if ill-intent was the reason. Nice looking area you are in there.
But I do have one question, what is the deal with the face with the devil horns? Not going to tell you where at, gonna let you look back. But it does stick out like a sore thumb.

Hhhmmmm...... Well Brother GrayCloud, I looked at those pictures for about an hour and the only face I saw with devil horns was the reflection in my monitor! LOL!!!!

Oh yea . Its hard to tell from the pictures but most of the pictures i took looking down at the water shows quartz seams in the bedrock, or solid quartz bedrock slabs such as the pictures below. The light area is quartz. Its actually pretty much a solid quartz slab, you just cant really tell because it has algae covering most of it up.

I looked all through them and this is the best i could come up with. Its a shadow in the middle of the picture. Either my own reflection and im evil or shadows on the bedrock from the trees

also, the lighter area around that dark creepy shape is quartz. it pretty much horseshoes around that figure.

Okay Boys, First batch of photos, 3rd photo from the bottom. Look at the very bottom of the photo, just a little to the right of center. Perfect face, with limb horns sticking out. Study the face, it is very clear, once you find it.

Nice looking Black Lab, but he too looked sad in his photo. Were some of those puncture hole done with intent. It sure looks fishy in the photos, just don't understand the hatred for our love of hunting gold.

save those peices of the yellow pontoon, guys that have these pontoons (me!) would like to have them if/when their pontoons get damaged. they can use this material for filler sticks when hot air welding damages. let me know if you want to get rid of them!

Thanks for the post, I feel like I was at the claim with you with all those great pictures. That area has so much potential, you must be super excited every time you go back there. Good luck and I hope you get lots of the chunky stuff.
