Hey mu50stang....

Klondike here...

There is always a bedrock is what the earth is made of.... A clay layer is a "false bedrock"... and sometimes holds good gold... for any gold laid down BEFORE the clay came in.. you'll find a good deposit under the clay... but don't dismiss the clay as I have found a lot of gold on top of the clay...and sometimes the clay will also hold pockets of gold.. depending on how it came in and what kind of clay it is..

Bedrock is a material that is so hard and not movable that gold will not settle past that material...as gold will settle to a point where it can no longer settle...

Hope that helps...

Good luck..

Klondike...

you need to pan as you go to find out where the gold is hiding on you! sometimes its on the top layer(flood gold) and others its throughout the material and still gold is on bedrock or false bedrock. all locations are different.
