Anyone Mining Gold in Alabama?
I see Alabama once had a gold rush. Apparently in one county 20,000 ounces were removed in only a short period of time. Just wondering if anyone here at TN is working the AU fields in Alabama.

Good morning Gold Fever Anonymous Members...
Graycloud, I watched the game. I was expecting at any moment big plays. The game ended up as a Defensive battle. I'm sitting here eating my second piece of pumpkin pie and thinking about the Bowl Games...
Making a long story short...I think eastern Alabama just might be a place to research etc. The gold areas are almost on the same topographical level as Dahlonega Georgia.

Cappy, You may very well be right. My suggestion would be to get with TOKADA and get him to show you where his Honey Hole is. Some of those local boys are keeping a low profile and I don't blame them.

Re: Anyone Mining Gold in Alabama?
I've got a slight fever...lol... Thanks for the info. Has/does anyone here use a Retort? to get the gold out of the rock dust? And if so so you wear a really good mask?

Re: Anyone Mining Gold in Alabama?
retorts are not for getting gold out of rock dust . but are used for burning off and recovering mercury .when used properly they are very effective ,and safely catch the fumes(mercury in it's gaseous state) -in water (not the atmosphere). most people do not use mercury for recovering gold ,but do find gold from time to time that has mercury on it . it does occur naturally -it is best to keep any gold tainted with mercury separate , as it will spread . when you have enough saved up - then retort safely to clean the gold ,recover mercury ----- then properly contain , and or dispose of.
no matter where you go,there you are!

Thanks Strickman. How does one 'process' gold bearing rock? I've read where it is crushed?

Re: Anyone Mining Gold in Alabama?
You are correct you crush the rock into a fine grit and then you leach the gold out. There are several ways of doing it and good explanations of how are to be fornd here. http://webpages.charter.net/kwilliam...s/assaying.htm

Re: Anyone Mining Gold in Alabama?
In reference to your origional question, I understand there is an exploratory mine in cental Alabama. They are using a citrus leaching agent. A commercial mine has to meet MSHA regulations as well as ADEM water standards. I am going to the Blue hill mine Saturday also. Taking my highbanker and metal detector.
