Hey -

My friend and I are starting to get the gold fever. I found my dads prospecting gear, and want to use it for some fun! If anyone knows where we should go in San Diego to pan for some gold, it would really help us out!

Also, is there a map of areas where gold has been found?

really, any help or tips would be great.

Thank you

Julian for sure! Just went on a gold mine tour their. Our gold here in San Diego is a dust/flour looking, not like the placer gold in Northern California. I've also heard of people going out to the desert i.e. Ocotillo Wells, with a dry washer. Maybe try to find some older maps were water flowed. Hope this helps and good luck!

Terry gave the best advice. You are going to waste a lot of time if you don't take the time to learn from others first. Join a club asap. For a history on the area I suggest a fellow Tneter's website Welcome
