Certainly not torrance for sure as was just there seeing gkids. Auburn Recreation area will be a safe bet for hastle free playtime and more than decent gold. 2 good spots outta Auburn-Chinese Bar outta Cool down spanish dry diggins road--pretty primitive but down river righteous bedrock for miles. Drivers flat on foresthill divide road-past the end or at the gully leading into the camp or a mite downstream in the small rapids between the 2 camps. Upriver is gods country the amazing Ruck a Chucky rapids. :levels go up and down by as much as 6-8 feet in the afternoons due to dam releases. Don't miss the amazing gold display at the old Auburn courthouse or Bank of America in Placerville ifn' ya get that far south. Old Grass Valley downtown is fun as crawling with hippies and funky stuff-puff puff pass as them folks are still lost in the 60's hahaha. STAY AWAY from Purdone and nelson crossings as CRIME,nudity, perversion and theft beyond belief in the Yuba BLM properties--John

I'd stay clear of the Auburn area for awhile due to the Robber Fire near the North Fork of the American river

We were in Auburn on Sunday. Smoke was thick at high elevation, but OK in the lower valley's.
