Gold in South Carolina???????????

Are there any places to pan/sluice/dredge for gold in South Carolina? Can anyone tell me if you can take your own equipment to use at the Thermal City Vein Mountain North Carolina mining sites?

I've done a bit of research on it and the only thing i've come up with is that the gold belt starts in the columbia area and goes west from there some places i've found info at are www.gold prospecting in south carolina .com and the usgs has a map that shows where the belt runs if you find any good detailed info let me know please
