Took the entire family (Mom, dad, wife and two kids) to meet up with GravelWasher down on the American River. What a great day! Mom and wife sat in chairs and emptied buckets into the Bazooka sluice. Dad was a digging machine and I ran bucket back and forth. managed to dig a large hole down the side of a riffle of bedrock. We were seeing gold in the Bazooka all day (I added about a 6" section of v-matting to the pouring area of the Bazooka that catches some of the gold for me to actually see what I am getting). I wished I would have had time to take pictures (Bad Rob!). Next time. I did take some pictures of the GOLD.

Great pics, looks like a really fun family time. Was that on a GPAA claim by chance?

Your lucky to have such a great family. Trade you?

Hahahahahaaa.... wish every day was like that day. Kids had fun and no fighting. The other half had a good time; though I forgot the adult beverages in car!

Cant wait for some warmer weather to camp out!

Did you run into any special situations with your 4 year olds? My niece just turned 4 and I'm wanting to take her camping. We're wondering if it is a good idea as we hike out to camp rather than drive in. Wasn't sure if she'd be okay for a 2 to 4 hour hike, or the night in the woods. She's pretty tough though. I like your thinking, get them out there young so they can enjoy some of that.

Some parents would be shocked to see kids out stumbling around big boulders next to a river - I feel sad for those parents.

My kids are now 7 and 9 now. When they were younger, camping was fine as long as they were in the same tent, sometimes the same sleeping bag. They enjoy the time. My older step sons use to love to camp with us... now we are boring. They come out once in a while, but it is rare now. Bring the little ones as often as possible as they start to opt out in their teen years. :(

Dagreat,

Soo glad you all made it out, had a blast with you all. I think the kids handled the hike better than most of the adults, the kids were trying to

keep up with me most of the hike out..lol Glad that little bit of a hike made a difference in you getting a little bit more color in your sluice vs

the other spot on the creek. Cant wait to get out and do some detecting with you come on over and put those detectors to work. Hope to

see ya soon....

P.S. Thanks for treating me to diner, had a great time with you and your family. Good times for sure Gravelwasher

Good Gold! Great times!
One of these days the kids will remember how much fun they had and will want to join you again. My boys are in their 20's now and are wanting to get out with me more often.
