It works fine in place of a sluice at the site you are working. The key things are:

1) don't give it more water than normal (up to 1200 Gallons Per Hour).

2) make sure that your material is classified to 1/8 or smaller.

I some times run a narrow sluice into my Gold Cube, and then have a 1/8 inch hardware cloth screen on top of the Gold Cube. That way, anything bigger than 1/8 will get caught in the sluice/screen. Anything smaller will end up in the Gold Cube.

The Gold Cube gets it all. If recirculating make sure you use something like a three bucket catch system so your water will settle though. If the pump starts running slow you can lose material.

I could not afford one and made a recirculating sluice that just had 3 tiears and one trap. I used low profile v rib and it works so well. My loss is almost as low as when we run my friends full cube. GPH is key. Once I get the cash Im buyin one for the beach for sure. They work great!
