Years ago I assayed just about every creek in the Ute Creek watershed, as background for a study on La Mina Perdida de la Ventana. The gold has played out, but the elusive cache is very much alive, two days down the old Spanish trail toward Pagosa. With new technology am restarting that quest. Someday that story will be told to the great unwashed.

I would love to see your report on that watershed, as I collect every paper and book I can about SW Colorado. I am very concerned that the fires in the area are destroying any surviving arbor glyphs (tree markings) that might lead to the lost mines in the area.

Lonewlf,

I would be interested in seeing the results of your assaying on Ute Creek
Do you still do assaying?
Do you still do prospecting?
Would you be interested in going Prospecting in the San Juan Mountains this year 2015 ?

I will be prospecting in the San Juans this year, probably in a couple of different areas. But they will be at very high elevations and require lots of heavy hiking to reach.

Sounds good, I also have other friends that already live around Durango that are interested as well. But we want to hit areas that have rarely been visited by people at all, which raises ht likelihood of serious strikes.

Expect you will be going uphill on Twilight Cr to top, wish I could go but too old. The sight from
Eldorado Lake cross the Grenadiers to Needles is spectacular.
