I can see clearly in your pic that you have more water pressure on the "clear" side of your box. There is a prominent wave on that side which is blowing out your material and the other side doesn't have enough water.

any suggestions on how to correct this? should i try to make like a high banker attachment for the water to pump into. i can get it set up on the stream right.

Figure out why you have more water on that side. Fluid dynamics are a tricky thing at times.

Edit to add, you don't have even close to enough water flow. Looking at your pic again, your material is loaded on the UP side of the riffles. It's not having enough force to wash it threw. Maybe your problem is NOT ENOUGH flow on the other side. Overall you need more water.

the concept of it tells me i that i am going to have more pressure on one side. no? do i have to make my holes start small at one side and get bigger towards the other to account for the water pressure coming out. i would think that the majority of pressure is forced to the end and reduced in pressure closer to the supply. no?

That's getting too academic for me.

Start with opening up the holes more to try to get more flow. Did you see the edit I made a couple posts ago?

One thing that may help even out the water is if you put like a rubber flap on it like what you would find on a dredge.

I thought about that but then you have no slick plate to drop your material on.

I think that's going to be about the only way to even his water flow. You can try running it and use a piece of cloth or thing, just play around with it. Like you said its going to be hard not having a back on it. I have also used a thin piece of miners moss to help even it out? I hope this helps and man are you making me wanting to be at the creek, or river.

I sat on my front porch during a rain shower and contemplated replacing the green gutter diffuser with a my sluice box and wonder if anyone would notice.
