thought this was pretty cool. it is a old surface gold mine pretty much right in my back yard (48 min drive away) i would love to explore it someday.

i guess it was a very productive mine back in the day i am sure there are lots of fines still left up there

Might not hurt to check into the current status of it and see if you can get permission to go through the tailing pile or other areas on the property. Like they say... It don't hurt to ask.

That's all private land now. Fenced and gated. I've always wanted to check out the operation and finally wrangled an invite this Summer but I haven't made it out that way yet this season.

Maybe next year.

when was it fenced off?? i was up there a few years ago to open the pond for the ranches down below and there were no gates or anything do you know who owns it?? i just want to get buckets of material and bring them home to sluice/pan out
