Munchkin Mining...sounds entertaining to me! She can show us all how it's done i bet! (Learned from the best!)

Why thank you sir! I am far from the best though as I am still learning new things here on the forum all the time. I will admit to knowing enough to keep me out of trouble unlike any of the characters on the current shows but that's about it. ;)

Now... Ya'll enjoy this next week! I'm not going to be around as I'll be working the dig site and giving lessons to a guy that's coming out from Texas...

It kills me that the TV networks think we the viewing public are so stupid. The unfortunate part is they are right, this show will no doubt gain a viewing audience. IMHO this show is really the essence of stupid. Five women without a single clue as to the danger involved or the skills to survive. Thank god they have a TV crew and the miners around to keep their pampered butts alive. These women wouldn't survive one week without help.. These woman couldn't find a gold nugget in a can of coffee grounds. So am I jealous, hell yes, of the opportunity. Some have compared this show to Gold rush Alaska and the Hoffman crew, I don't agree. both Todd and his father had previous real mining experience as well as heavy equipment operation. In the original show ( first season) Todd's father had the right idea from the getgo (Dig the glory hole) ( where the Dakota boys finally ended up getting the best gold). The Hoffman crew was more plagued by equipment problems, than management decisions and if it weren't for Todd forgetting to pay for the claim during the off season, I think you would have seen a much different season 2. As for the gold diggers, they don't even know how to use a gold pan. One would think they would at least have gotten some lessons on gold mining/ recovery, while living in California. Gee right in the heart of GOLD RUSH country.

Newport Beach is NOT the heart of Gold Rush country. That's about 500 miles north.

Reality TV and nothing more, I would not be surprised that all these shows are staged, the cleanouts are from purchased gold, etc. It’s all about $$$ for the shareholders. All the breakdowns are scripted to add drama otherwise viewers would decline if the show was just showing digging, finding gold, etc. We are lucky that we do mine but I would bet 80 percent of the viewers are couch potatoes. For the most part these shows are from the same parent company that owns, TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery, etc. They own like 25 TV networks of which shows many reality shows.

I am wondering if they have any relation to Hoffman. The mom is a clueless woman the daughters got suckered into this one. I am sure this show will fail...

Both my 12 and 13 year olds love digging the ground up. They'll make seats to sit on as they dig. They just don't care for panning. I guess they feel it's for their old man to do. Patience is something they don't have. Instant is what they know. Take pick and shovel and whala a small watering hole with seats.
I'd bet if they had this show on TLC my wife would watch it. Especially if they had the kards wearing their coach gloves and Gucci coats. Lol.

Give the girls credit. The girls are learning and finding gold. It's a whole lot better than week after week of equipment failures and no gold.

DVR the show and take a long hard look at that 16 oz jar a gold(12 oz to a pound troy so 1 1/4 lb) at the end of the show. When you work hardrock and your crushing rock you get the rough, sharp pieces exactly like that were shown when the old guy took them underground and crushed up some to recover the gold. NOW carefully look at that jar as it is mostly round smooth water worn placer gold and NOT crushed hardrock. What a hoax once again :tongue3: reality just flew out the window a this show......John PS-That gal may have got the goldmine but her daughter sittn' there got the shaft  John

Do the math....

Another little ooops I noticed on the last show. They said that SJs father died in 1935 or there about. Now even if her mom was still pregnant with SJ when her father died, that would make her AT LEAST 78 years old. Soooooo..... Either she has spent more on plastic surgery than Joan Rivers or they have someone PLAYING the part of SJ. She don't look like no woman that is pushing 80 years old that I've ever seen.

That was also a good point on the condition of the gold H.J.! I grew up around hard rock mines (Julian mining district) and I've worked placers for years. Until I started working in the Greaterville, AZ area all the placer gold I had ever found were flattened and rounded pieces like those shown at the end of the show. No hard rock gold is going to look like what they showed in that container!!!

Once again proof that reality TV is anything but real....... :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Too much middle aged mama drama for me, but I usually record it to watch the cleanouts. Nothing like a pan of gold porn to keep the fever burning

I give credit where it is do. And these woman deserve credit for only making mining and prospecting look like a joke. They are on Vacation making a mockery of real people who believe in prospecting.. Funny thing is the only people who really struck gold is the Tv companies finding such stupid people to entertain the stupid public..

They said the date on a letter they were reading was dated in 1935. The father/grandfather died in the 1960's.

The girls admittedly do not know mining but have the guts to give it a try and learn. I give them credit!

They should just walk away from 2 gold mines?

This isn't mining! It's a television show. The only "mining" they are doing is what's in front of the camera. If they were really wanting to learn mining, the cameras wouldn't be there making them re-shoot the same thing 30 times in a row.

I thought I saw them learning how to dredge, how to use a highbanker, how to operate heavy machinery, ect on the families two gold mines.

Just because the company they hired to process uses a crusher does not make the mine a hard rock mine. They were using excavators & digging dirt. That's reality.

Did you listen to them say that jar was from all their recovery, not just the hardrock mine?

That gold was only from hard rock mine in Fairbanks.

These girls are mining. Well in the sense they're owners and a learning the processes involved and how the machinery works. Any owner should know how to do everything. The reality is that they are claim owners and they're hiring others to do the work. They might be down by the creek and helping shovel and sluice, but the hard rockers really wouldn't let the ladies drive the machinery full time. I think they'll split women to supervise. Help out when guys want a break.

Question I've got is. If they don't make a profit on these claims, how would they lose the claims? He'll they're getting started 6 weeks before freezing ass off. Why did they start sooo damn late? Couldn't get Discovery to agree to terms quick enough?
I'll watch this show just because I like to see the process and laugh. Plus seeing the color is always a plus. Just wish I had some TNT and heavy machinery to run the material. Though being a small time prospector/miner, that won't happen till I find a vein missed by old timers. Lol
