Probably a little closer to the type of mining most of us do. Pick & Shovel if you know what I mean. I have a hard time relating to a guy stripping acres of land with a Cat then pumping it through a wash plant with a front loader.

These folks get the chance to do what a lot of us can only
dream of. I see that gal working up there with 12,000+ ft.
peaks surrounding her, and there's no way I could survive
(let alone work) at that altitude for long without lungs and
other parts ceasing to function.

Gotta agree, this is likely the most realistic of all the gold
and gem prospecting shows. The people on the show have
very well honed skills at locating and extracting the minerals,
and although they do make some money from them I don't see
any of the driving new cars. Regular looking folks, they are, and
that allows the rest of us rednecks to relate to them and their
prospecting.

Weather Channel seems to have stopped preempting the
show with other stuff, too. My guess is it's one of their
most viewed programs (hence more advertising income
can come from it). If so, hope they continue it for a few
seasons!

Never missed one yet as taped. Great show with all the sweat, blood and investment in time included. REAL mining of the toughest type at UNGODLY heights with the worst possible working conditions imagineable. Best series I've seen on tv-John

That's true i don't think i would even want to mine like they do .... In Pa we called it strip mining for coal .... in Gold rush it is strip mining for gold.......

She use to be a model. She obviously didn't let that go to her head. She is real down to earth, mother of seven and a widow. God bless her and all respect to her and her fellow prospectors on the show.
