I I have been doing some prospecting up in the Goodyear Arizona area an came across a big chunk of bluish quartz that had a bunch of oxidized material on it so I through in the truck. Along with some other finds I will post pics of them later ha. So I soaked it and gave it a nice scrub and noticed how heavy and dense it was and that it felt like it was full of some kind of mineral. So I pulled out the loop and did I little investigation, low and behold I start seeing some a bunch of like sheets of gold looking material. And instantly I remembered the article I was reading about Crystaline Gold and it's different forms. So I went hmm I wonder, I took a few off , I posted pics of them. And soaked it them in hcl overnight. Looked at them the next day and instantly new I had something good .
Not only it's it the size of a grapefruit but it weighs about 3 to 4 pounds and seems like the possible gold is coming out crime every inch of it. I still have a lot more cleaning to do on it but I just wanted to get some T net brothers opinions and what would be best cleaning wise and yes I will def be getting it assayed. Sorry for the long story haha and thanks for your help. Aloha

A yellow rock will surely scratch yellow. I don't see much point in doing a scratch test without acid. You can get a gold test kit on eBay for like $10. I know you use the tools you have available. A test kit and a crusher are a must for any hardrock prospector. You can always mail me a sample to crush and inspect. I'm in Tucson.
that would be awesome ill pm you and I'll do that. Thanks man

There are three different things being discussed here. Minerals, elements and rocks. The streak test only applies to one of them. Without making a distinction between, minerals, elements and rocks your streak tests are only going to lead to confusion.

Streak tests are for minerals. Minerals are a bonding of two or more elements in a natural configuration. Only compatible elements can bond into minerals so the minerals are a definable set of elemental bondings.

All minerals have a distinctive color set when abraded on an unglazed white ceramic plate. That streak color is often different than the perceived color of the mineral before the streak. Streak tests on relatively pure minerals can be one information point on the way to identifying which mineral you have. More information than a streak test is needed to positively identify a mineral.

Gold is an element, not a mineral. Streak tests on metal elements just smear the element across the ceramic. There is no streak test for elements.

Rocks are a combination of several minerals. They will streak differently depending on the mix of minerals they are formed from. As a result rocks do not have a definable set of streak colors, there is no color reference possible. There is no streak test for rocks.

Use streak tests for minerals only. Streaking rocks or metals will just clog up your streak plate and leave you confusing and unclear results.

Hope that helps?

Take it to someone. There is ProGold Prospecting out on Grand Ave almost into El mirage. Take the 101 on the west side, hit grand ave, and head nw. When you see the QT on your left, turn and go right behind the QT. They are good guys. They sell the pulverizing equipment too. You can get a pestle and cup for a song. If I had that rock, I would have already broken a piece off and crushed it with a hammer and a rag, then panned it....

Just wanted to give update. Been soaking it and cleaning it for last few weeks and it finally showing some progress. Also went and bought a gold test and had some jewelry that I thought was gold hah until I tested it ha and found it was not ha. But I got a nice piece off the quartz and did a good scratch and the 10k didn't touch it the 14 k almost made it brighter and the 18 k acid didn't affect it even after 20 min. I attached pic of streak test and you can make up your mind and give me your opinion. Thanks guys oh and that's the 18 k acid still on scratch mark and you can see it' has not touched it

holy **** that's for sure just got done with court 2 days ago and it wasn't pretty. Mom cheated on me with her boss when our daughter was 5 months old and then kicked me out and gave me an order of protection that was made up of complete lies and that was two days before last years christmas so I had to pack my **** and leave and missed my daughters first christmas. Then when I got an attorney and was ready to take the ***** down in court for the ruthless and evil things she was doing. She goes and drops the order the day before the court hearing last year ha. Her and her boss are now together and she is partying and living it up like an 18 year all the while I have my girl 5 days a week and work 6. So last month I got served when I had my daughter and the mom was trying to file for sole custody hahah and I have the kid 80% of the time but finally went to court and they laughed at her when they saw my documentation and calander of my days with my daughter. But the crazy **** is I still have to pay her 450 for child support ha insane but it is what it is and I'll do whatever it takes to make sure my little girl is taken care of by the way I used to be a professional surfer from Kauai and now have to live in az in the desert ha but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else then next to my child and get to see every min of her growing. Sorry for the long story but just wanted you guys to know how badly I want to find some gold and have an extra few bucks for once hahah. Here name is cadyn and she loves playing with rocks with dad hh

Count yourself lucky my friend. You got out and get your daughter the majority of the time. That is pretty rare in our court system.

chriseneim,

Your daughter is adorable! In such a screwed up world, it is great to see a Dad like you, who is not only devoted to raising her on your own but willing to fight tooth and nail to keep her! I wish you the best of luck and definitely hope that you found some nice Gold specimens and if they are, I hope you can find tons more of them!

I got an extra puritest solution kit here if you want it. Consider it a Christmas present for you and your daughter. PM me your addy and I'll get it out to you. It will help in your search. second kit is the one. Gold Test Kits | Silver Test kits | Diamond Test Kits | Platinum
wow man that is so awesome of you I would be so stoked and so grateful. You just made my day. Thanks man. Cadyn has been wondering if her dad will ever find gold and why the studio I live in is filled with rocks but the problem has been to get any extra money to get the things I need to do the test so I have just been cleaning specimens wondering if I will ever know. You just gave me the tools to move foward and I am so thankful.
