Update... we selected the winners.
See below for list and instructions.
Thanks
Doc

Long story made short...

I think it will be fun.

We have some cons from one of our ops.
The cons have a fair amount of fine gold. Lots of 50 - 100 - 150 and even 200 mesh gold.
However, I don't feel comfortable selling them with our normal cons which usually have some chunkier gold as well.
So....... I figured I would give away some of them here.
I figure a scoop / maybe around a pound per person.
GREAT practice for panning.
We will use a random number generator to choose the winners. RANDOM.ORG - True Random Number Service

Here's what I came up with.
I created an email address just for this: [email protected]

Send an email there with your board user name, that's it.
(Please don't PM me here, only use that email.)
If you win, I'll send you an email back asking for your shipping address.
We'll pay the shipping and all.
If you want you can come back and post some pics of the gold.

Rules...
Only one email per user. If you send more than one... you're out. :)
We can only ship them to US based customers in the lower 48.
We'll pick 10 winners.

Good Luck
Doc

We'll do the drawing in about a week.

Super excited! Thank you doc. I'm still a newbie at this and hoping it will help me fine tune my panning skills. Congrats to all the other winners. I'll be sure to post a picture of my findings.

Doc, thank you also for the chance! Looking for some concentrates to buy to teach my nephews how to pan. One is 12 and the other 10. Any ideas out there for some good pay dirt? Planning on taking them out east next summer for some gold and gem prospecting.

Well how about that! I won something for a change! I suggest that all of us winners send the cons after we're done with them to "The Other Jeff" I might just salt the ones I send him with some AZ gold. He's old and his eyes are going so he won't be able to tell the difference anyway.

Thank you Doc and I will echo what Clay said. We need more guys like you in the business end of prospecting! Good products, good attitude and good prices will always make a great combination.

EDIT: I lived in Georgia for seven years and believe it or not, this will be my first Georgia gold!!!! Better late than never I guess....

What you may want to do is go on EBAY and buy some pyrite.
Then add that to sand. Start them on that since there is such a big density difference.
It's better than "lead" since it looks pretty and they'll get excited about it since it looks really cool.

Wow, thanks! Pictures to follow for sure...and I'll tell all my local friends too - something to put on the Monthly Finds table at the. January Gold Prospectors of the Rockies meeting...will be the first GA gold those folks have ever seen I bet! Be sure to toss a flyer in the box about your cons for sale in case any are interested ( even in gold country some like to buy cons as they can't get to the creek any longer).

So some of the differences between pyrite is gold is soft and pyrite is brittle. Another difference would be gold is rounded looking while pyrite looks chipped. Would this be fairly correct?
