Poop tube clean out

I am new to prospecting and need some help. I have gone to the river and classified gold baring dirt through a 20mesh into a bucket. Now I have brought it home and after watching you tube videos I have built a milers table and poop tube. I found it was taking forever to extract the gold on the table so I build the poop tube today. My question is: how often should I be cleaning out the tube? I have two 5 g pails sitting and want to run them. My goal is to get enough gold to purchase a prospectors license so I can bring a sluice to the river(which I am making myself)

If your just panning, you don't need a license. But if your using a sluice, high banker or rocker box, you do need one. It is $50.00 here in Alberta.

Thanks a lot. I have to refine my process a little and practice techniques but with all the great advice and encouragement, I'm feeling more confident and excited in this new adventure :)

Do y'all think these need to be cleaned out, or is this normal?

Do you mean classify them with a smaller mesh. I used a 20 mesh classifier.

Not sure what he meant but that IS a good idea. For easy finish panning, take that material and separate it with a 50 mesh screen. Pan the +50 stuff normally and the -50 stuff using the shake and tap method that Doc of Gold Hog teaches so well in his YouTube videos. Works great! Alternatively run the -50 on your miller table.

Either way, congrats on your success, great to see!

Great learning videos. Now only if I can find one as detailed for the Le Trap Square pan. I've seen the tap technique but never really understood why. Now I know...and the proper way to use it. Like I said...now just need to find one for the square pan. Thanks again.

My black sand magnet. I recorded a video of how it works but I can't post it. Anyways, I don't know how much these things are to buy but I made this one for about $2 :)

So, after you screen it down, and then pan the fine stuff, get the rest of the magnetite out of it, and then you'll be ready to show us a picture of your North Saskatchewan glacial meltwater processed gold.

All the best,

Lanny

Would a 500-600gph water pump work for this if I added a hopper with spray bar to it?
