I love old photos like these Fullpan! I went to the South Dakota photos and have been to all of those mines. In fact the two of Rockerville were taken on the claim I now own. Those photos are now in the Library of Congress. Pretty cool!

A Metal Detectorist could research these old photos and line up with current photos to see where exactly the housing, bars, outhouses, etc. were. It could pinpoint exactly where artifacts, coins are hidden today - my 2 cents.

Thank you very much for sharing. In my much younger years, I had the chance to explore and photograph most of the Utah and Nevada mines. Even then there wasn't a great deal left standing. Great to see them when they were running and in their prime.

I know a guy that works some behind the scenes stuff at the stockmar gold mine museum (built on the gold mine site.) ill see if i can get him to send me a few photos of the mine from the early 1830s on past 1900. there are bound to be something of use he can get us.
