No gold in Wisconsin? Here's a list:

Gold can be found virtually anywhere in Wisconsin, due to the glaciers dropping off dirt and gold from Canada. Although it is almost always fine gold, there are a few places that good gold came from. Here's a list.

1. PLUM CREEK, PIERCE COUNTY
Gold and Diamonds were worked in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Good access at Nugget Lake County Park. This place has the best gold in Wisconsin.

2. ST. CROIX RIVER, POLK COUNTY
The Dalles of the St. Croix River have produced good gold. A third-of-an-ounce nugget came from here. Due to high water levels, prospecting can be challenging.

3. LAKE SUPERIOR
Gold can be found on the beaches and creeks on the southern shore of Lake Superior.

4. BLACK EARTH CREEK, DANE COUNTY
According to the Wisconsin Geological Survey, gold can be panned along Black Earth Creek near Cross Plains. Only a few minutes from Madison.

5. MARATHON COUNTY
Commercial Gold Mining considered by Aquila Resources near the town of Easton. The area around Wausau has produced gold flakes.

6. BIG FALLS, EAU CLAIRE COUNTY
Gold was found in the crevices in Big Falls near Eau Claire. A gold mining shaft was sunk in the Eau Claire River as well.

If you have any other locations comment and i'll put them up! There are other places according to the WI Geological Survey, but I didn't bother because the locations didn't produce very good gold.
