Gold: You take the good with bad. There are some days you think no gold exists ,,, no matter all the efforts you may have tried. However, you come back with a vengeance and work another 6 inches wider and low & behold, you find all those efforts have rewarded you one of your best trips to the claim. When such occasion does happen, cherish it and take photos. Even the experienced prospector knows these are the best of times are short lived and are met with another run of adversity. I take all of you back a few weeks when I had one of those great pans with nothing more than a shovel, pan and a PVC hand-held sucker. The 2 pans in the photos are not of the total day's workings but a single pan from a very productive crevice. The scale shows the actual full 5hr. day gold trip to the claim. To say it wasn't a golden day is an understatement. I recall leaving this patch of ground last season to work elsewhere. As I always say,,, you never know what lays beyond those next six inches. I am glad I returned to find out. May you do the same. Cheers - Randy

Very well said, Idaho - we ride a roller-coaster, and I certainly regret not taking more pics of the highlight times. :occasion14:

Thanks you all for the comments. Yes HerbyD, this is Idaho gold. The pvc sucker tube is a must on my claim and is credited with perhaps 70% of my gold tale. The right tool for the right situation makes a world of difference. As seen in the above photos, the pvc sucker tube did a fabulous job. Since that day, I did return to work further on that crevice and to my surprise, I had another sensational day as well. I'll post those pictures when time permits. Again thanks for the thumbs up^^.

Cool IdahoGoldGettR...Interesting how many of these crevices replenish themselves with flood gold..I've even used the sucker tube on potholes and drainages around Nevada City and elsewhere.. I've got them all logged on my GPS..if they're dry I just dump in 5 gallons of water..my wife calls them my Easter bunnies..Darn it if Nevada City didn't finally do some construction work this past year and filled in my favorite pothole.. ;)

The location is central Idaho. Between Boise & Couer d' Alene. Slightly North of Riggins.

Another picture taking day. I returned to the claim 5 days later to work further on the crevice area. As it turned out, it was certainly worth the efforts. Here are the photos taken 10 days ago (May 31, 2014). The pay streak finally played out a day or two later totaling better than 1/3 ounce. It just goes to show you, "Gold is where you find it." In this case, it was only six inches further. May your pans be bright & shiny. Cheers -
