Note this is just a conversation starter

But I've been seeing many people in the southeast
Claim that all the gold is out west

And at the same time I've seen people from colorado, California, and Idaho
Say the southeast is where it is

So what im trying to say is, what?

If you live in the midwest yes i understand you saying
The gold is elsewhere but if your state is historically known
To have decent deposits there is no excuse to say you need
A plane ticket to find gold
But then again i am new, and i can understand it being cool to mine somewhere new

Just keep doing it. Even the skunk teaches you something. If you have low flow and have to pan. With no bedrock, I would look for roots that are growing shallow and maybe have their own cracks or depressions that are similar to the traps in bedrock. Anything that looks like a trap with a bottom, that is filled with material that you can tell was put there by flooding. You need to sample as well. You find color and not only move upstream a little but. You walk directly across the creek and check the exact opposite side first. Being below a dam is typically not a good thing when prospecting. Do not neglect perennial and dry tributaries that run perpendicular to the main river If you find more color on one side of the waterway it could be coming from an upstream tributary (regardless of bends) whether from vein influence or it cutting an older bench or channel. Just keep digging:thumbsup:
