In this pic, it's rather difficult to see but there is a sort of green skin on the quartz. Between it and the quartz is visible gold. Anyone ever see this before? What is the green material?

I see the gold ...the "skin" could be organic, or mineral in nature.

I was thinking the same thing! I have seen similar Quartz specimens with the greenish outer layer of whatever it is but no Gold. I am thinking that the green covering may have been a form of Lichen that formed on the Quartz thousands or even millions of years ago that died and petrified.

well I seen veins of gold in quartz, just like that minus the green or 'Turquoise' colored material, which can be found with quartz. Wonder if it's Turquoise? Nice find!
