It was a very interesting program!
Quite a number of interesting things were pointed out. One being that the miners were the biggest risk takers and gamblers in U.S. History. Did one notice the size of Dawson City....the largest city of the time. If one looks further into the Great Calif Gold Rush; one will find that it was the result of the miners that San Francisco is what it is today. The Great Golden Gate Bridge! California: "The Golden State". Men seeking mineral wealth and fortune not only built much of the U.S.; but actually people seeking such fortune were the reason the seas were sailed and North America was even discovered.

Are we talking about Klondike the mini series that aired last year over three nights or another show entirely?
Another show... this one was on the PBS channel here in AZ. Just a 1 hr. documentary/history lesson more or less.

I love reading first hand accounts from that rush.

One of the best I've found is a 2 book story, "Black Sand and Gold" and "Trail to the North Star Gold", by Ella Lung Martinsen.

Written in the 1950's by the daughter of the main character, very detailed, exciting true story, about a young man that risked it all, faced major set backs and hardships, and eventually came home a winner.

Highly recommended.

It was on PBS up here as well. Great show for how short it was.
