I ended up getting a great deal on a new Gold Fox Lil' Monster Extreme yesterday, 2nd hand but new in the box with all of the paperwork. Here at Stanton, they have bingo night every Monday and tonight Karen won her first game of Bingo in her life and brought home some gold to add to the kitty :) It's been a great week and the new trommel is working great!

Bingo is fun. Never played for gold. That would certainly make a poker game interesting.
That just gave me an idea for a fun family night. I’ll see your nuggets and raise you a 5 dollar gold coin. Better than match sticks.

I've won a couple bags of panning dirt myself :) It's nice to have mining style gifts for the winners and the Panning bags are fun, with good gold to be had!

Wow!!! I'm moving again! We came to Stanton, AZ and planned on staying here, then...
Karen gets an idea in her head that she wanted to become the caretaker here, so... she applied and got hired immediately... So...
The LDMA snatched her up fast, said heck yea, then last week or so, she started working here at Stanton and they saw her true potential...

Bahhh humbug! I've been retired since 2011 and now she decides that she wants to go back to work... Lol. The only thing is... They want me to be there also to teach and find some pockets for them for the National Outtings, etc. I'd already done my research here, found a number of great spots... And then, while really enjoying it here and loving my retirement... They start talking (Karen and the LDMA Coordinator), I can now tell that there are some shady deals going behind my back... And then all of a sudden, out of the Blue... they give us a choice of 3 camps to run and help to bring into the new era that they are now together putting in process of revamping... In other words, to keep the story short, now she wants a big blue bucket and once again we are packing up and moving back into nice, wet, water filled gold bearing area :) Now we are on our way to Eastern Oregon!
You guys are the first to know :laughing7: The life of a now semi-retired gold miner :) I'm truly loving it :occasion14:

I'll bet you guys love it in Baker area Reed. Very, very rich in mining history there. Not so much rain, but snow and cold in the winter and hot and dry in the summer. Oregon trail goes through the area and there is a great interpretive center-museum just east of Baker City. You also found my happy hunting grounds for deer and elk! And also there is Rocky Mountain goats up on the Elkhorns. At 72 I'm now pretty much 'fully' semi- retired myself. ha ha Getting my truck and trailer ready to travel whenever the wife and I decide to go somewhere. Yippie! Best of luck to you on the move!

Honestly, I was real surprised when Karen fell in love with the LDMA Camp. We've been basically on the road for over 2 years, traveling from coast to coast, and now... We'll be going from LDMA Camp to LDMA Camp as caretakers for a while :) We'll run the Blue Bucket Camp in Oregon this year and then shut it down for the winter and come back to Stanton in late October :laughing7: They want her in the booth at the gold show in Washington and she's eating it up right now, I'll be mining :)

Hope you get over to the Powder, Reed. Needs investigating, and a report. I've been by there many times, and it always looked enticing, but I was always traveling on other business. As "Wild" said....the interpretive center on the way to Hells Canyon is great!

Well, we are gone from the LDMA Blue Bucket finally. Eastern Oregon was fun and there is good gold. I was able to run my friend Rick's trommel whenever I wanted to and it does work well. It's a simple design made from 2 old water heaters. I ran 26 buckets thru in a little over an hour and walked away smiling :)

I had a lot of fun, did some exploring, saw Todd Hoffman's old operation that was upstream from a friend's claim, saw and walked all over the Sumpter Gold Dredge, and they even gave me a Gold Hog Raptor Pro Flare to run while I was camp host there :)
