KAJO News - Geology Report on Mineral Resource Potential of Southern Oregon Now Available

The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries has published a report on the mineral resource potential of southern and eastern Oregon counties.

In House Bill 3089, the 2015 Oregon Legislature directed the agency known as DOGAMI to prepare a report that included a review of the mineral resource potential of these counties, including Josephine, Jackson, Douglas and Klamath.

DOGAMI was also directed to prepare an evaluation of which metallic and industrial mineral commodities are most likely to be economically developable and a list of all relevant mineral inventories and studies previously completed by the agency, as well as a cost estimate for making that information available online.

In addition, the Legislature directed DOGAMI to make recommendations for future mineral resource potential assessment activities.

The open file report, titled “Metallic and Industrial Mineral Resource Potential of Southern and Eastern Oregon: Report to the Oregon Legislature” by Ian P. Madin, Robert A. Houston, Clark A. Niewendorp, Jason D. McClaughry, Thomas J. Wiley and Carlie J.M. Duda is now available from DOGAMI.
