Mica is not particularly associated with gold. Its presence or absence means nothing.

Why did the title of this post make me think about one of my daughters songs... "I'm all 'bout that gold, bout that gold.... no mica"

I rarely, if ever, find mica in the areas I'm currently working, but in other areas, it was present with the gold, so no, you don't have to find mica to find gold.

All the best,

Lanny

I guess!

It takes mad crazy skill to remove mica with a density about half that of black sand from on top of black sand. Gold panners are aiming for the dense stuff, not the other way around.

Where there is placer gold, there is always black sand.
