Great find! As a side note; I classify and pan every thing caught in my sluice mats just in case some random piece is heavy enough to separate itself thinking that if one separates then there must be a reason. One reason, for example, is that many pictures of nugget finds are ones that have a significant amount of host rock attached. Your find of a coated nugget sets another example.

I'm running a rule 3700 bilge pump off a 95 aH battery. No gas powered equipment in the area I am working.

you are 100% correct. Those big ones are rare but if you don't check you will never find them.
The pics below are of a nugget that was found several years back in the area I am working. The guy found it in the tailings pile of his buddy via a metal detector. I got a chance to hold it and take a pic -- such a sick piece -- 2 oz of sheer beauty
