wouldn't the keyway be a problem I've heard of people building them up with welding rod then heat treating to harden it back up.

I was looking at these, looks like he sold some for 135.00 might make best offer

there is always Brigg's cheaper than the Honda but just as reliable;

might see how it goes putting threads on before taking apart the motor

Wow now there are some options. I will be using a lathe to cut threads so keyway should not be a problem if so I have a complete tool and die maker shop available. I already have several Predator engines from other projects that didn't get completed over the years. But buying a crank and doing it first could save me headaches down the road and it's cheap enough. I can even heat treat if needed.

might do two, one for a backup, I have a Brigg's 8hp that looks like the 6.5hp one in my other post
It's ran great for 7 seasons and still run's good, will the predator engine hold up,
wouldn't be fun driving 100 miles from nowhere and have problems,
does sound like a fun winter project though. :occasion14:

I have to use a Honda clone so my water heater bolts up. Heater is a R&D thermostat controlled. Winter is my mining season less people out and about. I was planning on keeping the current motor as a spare it runs good but has a crap ton of hours on it.

The Crank is not hardened steel but I'm not sure I would bother repairing it. You can get a new crank for about $25
