just got a Garret AT gold...so I'm new to this machine

I keep getting a 95-99 target id over this piece of bedrock the signal strength is very strong over a portion that is 1.5 feet by 1.5-2 inches long (outside of that the signal is non existent).

just wondering how to cut the bedrock to see what I'm dealing with ...will a hammer and chisel work? angle grinder?

I'm trying to figure the best way without renting equipment

additionally I have run my teknics delta over the area with the same result

any suggestions would be appreciated

depends on if your worried about smashing up the target or not. hammer drill with large bit, sledge hammer, and a pointed digging bar can get you pretty far.

There is a good chance you just have a pocket of high mineralization that's conductive and giving off the signal. In my area of California there is so much mineralized iron in the ground, that you cant use a vlf reliably, due to all the false signals. Just a warning
For nugggets in cracks, we always just chisel them out.

95-99 target ID won't be gold. What is it you're hoping to find in bedrock that is not gold?

Along with the hammer drill you will need a few charged batteries or else a corded hammer drill and a generator. The hand tools will still be required as the drill will only cut away so much, the rest will need to be broken out. Good Eye Protection needs to be worn!!!!! Good hand protection should also be used! I personally own a Bosh Hammer drill and have used it MANY times for many hours and it still performs well, purchased it back in 1997...........63bkpkr

KISS..... use the sierra blaster.... contact me if you need info re: using it. I have used it probably more than anyone out there- probably at least 500 times so far.. Drill a 10mm hole with a battery operated sds drill, put the charges in and "pop" and the rock will be shattered in less than 10 minutes. No big explosion, and it's waterproof, so if the charge gets wet, no big deal.

Sierra Blaster is the way to go! Or drill holes and use that expanding stuff to crack the bedrock
