Hey all, new to the forum here and glad to have found you. I have recently taken up gold prospecting as a hobby and have spent lots of time panning and sluice - panning what I think is gold over the last month. All of this stuff was sticking to the bottom of the pan. Does this look like some gold to you? Some of the stuff pictured seems like "nugget" and some is what is very dense and gold rich rock (I hope). I just tried casting in the quick kiln and their provided borax mix with some of the smaller more pure looking stuff. I ending up with the nasty stuff in picture 4. Just got the thing and am currently attributing this failure to user error. Have any of you had success with the kwik kiln? If this is gold, to what degree can I put the larger stuff with rock present in the kiln and expect it to smelt? If I need to process further what would you suggest? How much borax would one use to say 1 gram of gold? I am looking at a rock crusher but have yet to find a cheap and effective solution with good feedback. Any product suggestions?
Thanks!

Welcome from Ca, i don't see any gold in your photos. You will know when you get gold in your pan, it will stand out from all other materiel. When you see a little color/yellow put it in the shade and if its gold you will see the color. Good luck.

Good job on trying, but you have some work ahead of you yet before you find any gold. Once you find some then maybe worry about the processing. You can't find gold just any ol' gravel. Research where the best gold producing areas are in your state are, get permission to prospect and hopefully find someone who can teach you a little, if not, watch more youtube and keep reading the forum. Welcome and good luck!
