SW Washington/Portland Area; Where's the goog gold?!?!?

Looking to go out an afternoon this week and sluice a gram or more of gold. Been Checking out the east lewis river in WA with some success. Nothing extraordinary and nowhere near a gram. What are the best public areas to hit within a few hours of the Columbia river around portland. Cheers!

SW Washington not a rich gold area unless you go beach mining, easy to get a gram at Cape Disappointment, you could try the Cowlitz, I found gold while fishing for smelt at Rocky point there and from what I have learned that there is gold in The Toutle river and diamonds. The Toutle river is where the main flooding and run off happened when Mt. St. Helens erupted .Check "My Land matters" for land status. Also get the WDFW gold book, that is your permission from the state to mine here.
