This nugget in particular was covered in caliche. When it was found it was almost white and looked like a normal rock. It takes a moment to figure it out. Just little bits of gold poke through.
It becomes obvious at a point that it's a significant amount of gold but it's a mystery. Also, the Mexicans have a different way of getting excited, more subdued. They wait until they sell and get paid. Then get rip roaring drunk to celebrate. I think there is a video of the first acid wash. I'll try and round it up.
