From the news story: "witnesses say he spontaneously dropped his radio and took off running down a steep cliff into the nearby forest where he was never seen nor heard from again."

That really is weird. I'm surprised that I never heard about this before.

There are mountain lions in Idaho and plenty of black bears. Both can attack if a person is running. Or maybe some criminal was creeping around.

Seems unlikely a producer would just up and quit a successful TV series.

Weird. Maybe he had ants or bees in his pants and went for the water.
