Purchasing a closed 160 acre mining claim

Can an individual "purchase/lease" a 160 acre mining claim from the BLM or does it has to be sized down to 20 acres.

You can locate eight individual 20 acre claims, or you can lease from an associate claim as long as all eight remain on the claim.
Either way, the ground better be good and it will be spendy.

    ? BLM doesnt sell claims?

One locator for each 20 acres. You can buy a claim with less locators but, youll have to prove all the acerage contains enough minerls to make it prudent to mine it.

If you buy it and BLM decides otherwise you will lose acerage.

I don't think BLM is checking at least not in Kern county.
I see many claims over 20 acres with one locator and have been watching them for over five years.

well adjudication may catch up.. if they try for a P.O.O or want to perfect the claim it will get noticed.
