Hoagland kinda had it right but kinda had it wrong as well. Dodge knows his stuff ...no doubt about it. I would have liked to have seen how they muck their pond tho. The slots in the discharge chute was genius

I liked the lawn mower

The piece of gold that made it out of the Trommel in the beginning looked bigger than the one they found at the end to me.
Liked the show and crew much more than the other white water show.
Cheers Mike

Why don't they forget about all those water problems and go with a Dry Washer system .Thats what they have been using in the "outback"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQGs43PQ5ds&feature=youtu.be

Maybe because most often the material dug down in the Rich Hill area is still damp. Also it appeared the gold found at the programs Rich Hill place was extremely fine and maybe not conducive to dry capture. A local friend of mine has a very large trommel that is used for drying sand....which is bagged and then sold. Now the trommel dryer and the dry capture unit shown in the vid might be a real winner. My friend's dry /blower trommel is for sale.....and really might be nice in Az....I had given it thot myself....but my mining days are over.

Damp soil may be part of the issue but if Rich Hill soil is similar to where I usually prospect and dry wash here in Arizona, then another aspect is that many of the soil deposits are kind of cemented and needs either wet processing or some means of crushing/powdering of the clods to kind of break them down to release the fine gold within. As to the size of the gold and drywasher capability, my Whippet captures minus 100 mesh....sadly that is usually all I find.LOL

I'm surprised at how much gold they were getting from such a small operation, that family got an ounce a day! Is there a bigger reason why the rest of the area hasn't been more mined yet? The mountains in the background must contain more gold. I thought Arizona was more mine friendly?

A lot of it is cemented here, lots of good gold. After years of coming and mining on and around Rich Hill, we finally bought a house here. Right now, with the drought, the soil is hard and dry, last year we had running water all year...
For another couple of weeks we will be here at Stanton, we should be getting our keys to the house in another week or so :)
Oregon was nice, but my arthritis disappears here completely, so we gave in and moved here :)

My thoughts exactly. I pay about $150 a month for DirectTv, including
all the Discovery, Science and History channels. If they think I'm going
to pay them some more for a online "+" channel, they can kiss my rosy
red arse.

It's a great show, as I saw the first episode, but it won't hurt
me in the least to not watch the other episodes. Besides, they'll
probably be on regular Discovery next year, and I can watch 'em
then If'n I'm still breathing..:laughing7:

We don't have regular TV, not for decades, but... Karen Subscribed to Discovery+ for 10 days and we'll probably drop Hulu & Netflix being that I never watch them. I watched the first few episodes and it was nice seeing Fred D and his family on the first show. I had heard that he had done this but everyone's been separated since the covid scandal started last year. I've been working on a remote part of one of his claims for a few years now and there's more then one trommel working way out here in these hills :)
It was fun seeing them driving on the same road that I drive daily.
