I finally joined a club with a life time membership, the price of membership has dropped by 1/3rd. I own 3 claims around their claims and now I have the right to mine their 60miles of claims plus mine. Going to be awesome.

Hard year for them, the disease then forest fires as for my reason for joining was that I have 3 claims that are around their claims. Just expanding my options plus I have been an associate member for over 10 years, I know the club very well and always keep up to date on what's happening there.

I will also add that what you saw is for the pubic not for members, we know what is happening, be careful when making a assumptions without doing the right investigation, as for the price, I pull out almost an ounce in 4 hrs. sluicing on my claim near Happy Camp and after good day of mining I can drive less than 2 miles and have pizza and beer for dinner. Makes my day anytime.

The New 49er's are far from dead, they've been around for decade's and have claims in the western states. I've been a member for decades myself. They have been a strong leader in the fight against the Karuk tribe that got dredging outlawed in California and they have probably the best claims over any of their competition in California and Oregon.
